April Is Recycle-Your-Computer Month In Cuyahoga County

April is Recycle Your Computer Month throughout Cuyahoga County.

Consequently, Cuyahoga County Solid Waste District and city service departments are trying to make it as easy as possible for residents to recycle their unwanted computer equipment.

Residents are invited to drop off their personal computer equipment at more than 46 participating city service departments during April.

Brecksville has year-round drop-off, on Saturdays only, at 9023 Brecksville Road from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. This service is for residents only. For more information, call (440) 526-1384 or www.brecksville.oh.us.

Equipment that will be accepted includes: computer processing units, monitors, keyboards, mice, printers, terminals, modems and software. Cell phones and accessories and ink printer cartridges will also be accepted but televisions or other electronics will not.

The computer donations are tax deductible.

Computers will be sent to RET3 job corp., a nonprofit computer recycling and job training organization based in Cleveland. Newer computers are refurbished and donated to schools. Since 2003, RET3 job corp. has distributed more than 23,000 computers to schools and other non-profit groups in Northeastern Ohio.

The Cuyahoga County Solid Waste Management District has been collecting computers for recycling since 2000 and has kept more than 13 million pounds of computers and electronics out of landfills so they could be repurposed and recycled.
