Voters Pass Brecksville-Broadview Heights School Levy

Voters in the Brecksville-Broadview Heights School District passed a 7.4-mill renewal levy on the ballot on Tuesday.

The renewal levy — known on the ballot as Issue 12 — will continue to cost the owner of a $100,000 home $12.66 per month, district Treasurer Rick Berdine said.

The levy was first passed in 1988 and brings in about $4.8 million a year. Passage of the renewal would not raise taxes, but keep taxes at the current level.

This renewal levy is being placed on the ballot as a continuing levy.

“It represents 11 percent of our current operating budget,” Berdine recently told Brecksville Patch. “Not passing this renewal levy to continue providing the same level of resources to the district (would have been) devastating to the day-to-day operations of every school in our district.”

Superintendent Scot Prebles couldn't be immediately reached for comment.
