Early Morning Fire at Meadow Lane Home Yields No Injuries

The responded to reports of a fire in the 9200 block of Meadow Lane early this morning, said Fire Chief Ed Egut. The department received a call from a neighbor at 1:39 a.m., who said the whole sky was filled with light.  

The home was under renovation, Egut said, and no one was in it at the time of the fire. There were no injuries reported. 

Five units—emergency vehicles like fire engines and ambulances—were on the scene, Egut said. That includes vehicles from the cities of Broadview Heights and Independence that also reported to assist the Brecksville Fire Department. It took about 40 minutes to get the fire under control, and people started to be dismissed around 3 a.m. Egut said someone from the department stayed after the fire was out to watch for any rekindling.  

The cause of the fire is not known at this time, and Egut said the regional fire investigative unit would be looking into it.
