ā¢ STOW:Ā Thou shalt not stealĀ ...Ā
The man affectionately known asĀ the Marsh Road PatriotĀ plans to eventually replace a sign displaying the Ten Commandments that was stolen recently from his yard. ChrisĀ Caetta, who is known for placing an abundance of political signs and flagsāeven an empty chair during the last presidential electionāin his yard, said he has had such items stolen before. But this is the first time heāsĀ filed a police report.
āAt one point we actually had something stolen, and when my wife and I went to church on Sunday morning they put it back on our front porch,ā Caetta said. āSo we know that theyāre close.ā
A Stow couple is mourning the loss of a beloved family pet today while staying vigilant in the search for its killer.
Kristina and Raymond Cope mourn the loss of Merlin, a 7-year-old mixed-breed dog they adopted from a local animal shelter. The Copes found Merlin on the afternoon of July 27 in a nearby yard not far from their Klein Avenue home.Ā According toĀ StowĀ Police, Merlin had been shot to death with a pellet gun.

ā¢AVON LAKE:Ā Beer me, dear ...
An Avon Lake man is in jail after drunkenly calling 9-1-1 to report an argument with his ex-wife over five Milwaukee's Best beers.Ā John Bansley, 46,Ā was first cited with public intoxication at 10 a.m. onĀ July 29 outside ofĀ Convenient Food MartĀ on Lear Road and later chargedĀ with misuse of the 9-1-1 system.Ā

He was dropped off at his ex-wifeās home after being cited for open container after police found himĀ with an open 16-ounce can of Milwaukeeās Best Premium beer andĀ a cardboard sign reading ābus ticket or beer.ā
He told police he was going to Chicago. After being dropped off at his ex-wife's house with the remaining five Milwaukee Best beers, his wife, per police order, refused to hand over the remaining beer. Bansley called 9-1-1 saying "She took my beer," and "It's a fight over beer."

ā¢ SHAKER HEIGHTS:Ā Taking matters into his own hands ... literally.ĀA 21-year-old Shaker Heights man did not like a group of young men hanging around near his girlfriend's car, so he decided to take matters into his own hands.
That did not end well for him.Ā According to aĀ Shaker Heights PoliceĀ report, the Shelborne Road residentĀ saw three men gathered around his girlfriend's car at about 2:29 a.m. on July 28.
The resident and his father both went outside looking for the suspicious men, and searched through the neighborhood for them after they ran off.Ā The resident ran into them farther down on Shelborne. A confrontation ensued, and the man was punched in the face. The men fled.
