1. Collaboration solves Boardman waterline woe problem (vindy.com) — While Boardman’s long-troubled Boardman Boulevard waterline is finally moving toward a fix, Canfield Township also secured $11,197 for repairing the Westbury Park catch basin. The ABC Stormwater District approved the Canfield funding alongside a new flow-monitoring agreement, aiming to improve drainage and water management in the wider area.
   

2. Homeless vets in Valley get lift from DAR (vindy.com) — In Canfield, the Mahoning Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution has donated $10,000 to support the Veterans Haven project, which will house homeless veterans in Mahoning County. The funds will help stock the facility’s food pantry and furnish living spaces as the container-based transitional shelter prepares to open in 2026, with future phases adding permanent supportive housing for up to 14 veterans.
   

3. Ohio releases 2026 fair dates, including the Valley (wfmj.com) — Mark your calendars: the Mahoning County Fair in Canfield is set for Sept. 2–7, 2026, wrapping up the Mahoning Valley’s fair season. State officials also confirmed dates for nearby Trumbull and Columbiana county fairs, plus the Ohio State Fair, highlighting how these events support 4-H, FFA, and local agriculture.
   

4. OSU Extension to host virtual series on Mediterranean diet (wfmj.com) — Residents in and around Canfield can sign up now for OSU Extension’s new virtual “Med Instead of Meds” series, starting in January, to learn practical ways to follow a Mediterranean-style diet. Hosted by the Mahoning and Trumbull county offices, the free Tuesday lunchtime sessions cover topics like swapping fats, boosting fruits and vegetables, and rethinking sweets, with online registration required.
   

5. Health care center reaches goal of 1,000 gifts for seniors (wkbn.com) — Akeso Health Care’s Canfield facility just reached a record 1,000 donated gifts for its seniors, thanks to generous community and corporate support. The annual “Gifting for Seniors” drive, started in 2020, provides residents with essentials and fun items. Donations are still being accepted through Monday via the company’s website.
