• Chardon Fire Department activates Safe Haven Baby Box, offering safe infant surrender (cleveland.com) — A new Safe Haven Baby Box is now active at the Chardon Fire Department on South Hambden Street, giving parents a legal, anonymous way to safely surrender a newborn. The climate-controlled box locks automatically, alerts firefighters within minutes, and includes an information packet to help parents navigate the emotional process under Ohio’s Safe Haven law. 
• Geauga County opens library branches, YMCA as warming centers (cleveland.com) — Geauga County is opening public buildings as warming centers this winter, including the Geauga Family YMCA on Bass Lake Road in Chardon. Residents can warm up, charge devices, use restrooms, and access showers and hygiene supplies during extended hours, especially helpful for seniors, families, and anyone facing heating challenges.
