• Ross Co. Sheriff Crime Log – December 14, 2025 (sciotovalleyguardian.com) — Ross County deputies handled several serious calls Sunday, including a structure fire on Mt. Zion Road and vandalism to an occupied home on Steiner Road in Chillicothe. Local officers also investigated criminal trespass involving an off-road vehicle on Scottland Drive, while other calls in nearby towns ranged from a runaway juvenile to a reported stabbing where no victim was found.
   

• Chillicothe family of 9 looks to rebuild after fire destroys home (chillicothegazette.com) — A Chillicothe family of nine is rebuilding their lives after a December fire badly damaged their Egypt Pike home, destroying many belongings but sparing everyone inside. Neighbors, churches, and local businesses have quickly stepped up with clothes, essentials, and donations, showing the Goods how strongly Chillicothe rallies around its own in a crisis.
   

• Centerville man found guilty of murder in Kettering cold case homicide (daytondailynews.com) — A long-unsolved Kettering homicide has ties to Ross County, where the victim’s body was found along a rural roadside outside Chillicothe in 2001. A Montgomery County jury has now convicted her then-boyfriend of murder, with sentencing set for December 23. Investigators credit persistent police work and advances in forensic science for finally closing the case.
