Here are the top three stories today in Cincinnati:
- Hamilton County is experiencing increased overdoses in the area, which may be linked to fentanyl. From Sep. 30 to Oct. 5, there were 16 preliminary overdose deaths in the area. Health officials want to remind the public, even if you are a recreational drug user, you are at risk for overdose and death. Narcan is available and is not only designated for injection drug users. (WLWT Cincinnati)
- Metro and TANK will be offering free bus rides during BLINK. For Oct. 13 through Oct. 16, there will be four park-and-ride locations. The fare-free rides will start beginning at 6 p.m. each night. The initiative aims to boost attendance as well as minimize congestion. (Spectrum News 1)
- Cincinnati City Council has unanimously approved a new pedestrian safety crew to curb hit-and-run crashes. Mayor Aftab Pureval said the funding will be made available for critical areas in the city that need safety improvements. Since the pandemic started in 2020, there have been 642 pedestrian crashes in Cincinnati. (WLWT Cincinnati)
Patch deal of the day:
Wine lover alert. We found this amazing deal from Splash Wines — an 18-bottle curated selection of reds and whites for fall — for just $69.99. Shipping isn't cheap at $39.95, but that still comes out to just over $6 per bottle. Splash Wines has a money-back guarantee if you don't like the wine and 4.6 out of 5 rating on TrustPilot. So: recommended.
