- Cleveland has become the latest city to ban conversion therapy on LGBTQIA minors, following the steps of Cincinnati. Cleveland joins Cincinnati, Columbus, and Cleveland Heights in outlawing mental health professionals from attempting to change a minor's sexual or gender. The bill was passed on Oct. 10. (Cincinnati CityBeat)
- The Cincinnati Zoo is expecting a little bundle of joy. Scientists at the zoo's Center for Conservation and Research of Endangered Wildlife confirmed that Isla the tamandua is pregnant! Tamanduas are a type of anteater, and experts have been working to breed them in captivity. Isla's pup is due in December. (WLWT Cincinnati)
- A shooting in downtown Cincinnati has left two people hospitalized. A man and a woman were injured in the shooting, which happened overnight between Walnut Street and Vine Street. Patrons at the popular Madonna's Bar & Grill were able to assist the injured man until paramedics arrived. Both victims are expected to survive. Police have no motive or suspects at this time. - The Cincinnati Police Department is hiring for an assortment of different positions. On Tuesday, the CPD announced that they intend to bolster flagging recruitment numbers by 2023. The police academy currently has 33 people enrolled; the recruitment goal was 54. Part of the incentive will be a pay increase to $25 per hour. (WCPO 9 Cincinnati)
