City Of Cleveland Heights: Instructions For Filling The Council Vacancy

After consulting with the County Board of Elections and reviewing the City Charter, it was determined there is sufficient time to include on the November ballot name(s) of candidates interested in filling the recently vacated seat that expires on December 31, 2023. On August 25, Cleveland Heights City Council authorized a special election to occur on November 2, 2021 at the regular municipal election.

Candidates interested in getting on the ballot for the election to fill the unexpired term of office of council member ending December, 31, 2023, must file nominating petitions with the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections no later than 4pm on Tuesday, September 7, 2021. At least 50 signatures of qualified electors is necessary to get on the ballot.
