Cleveland Heights Woman Charged Welfare Fraud

The fraud spanned 10 years and cost taxpayers tens of thousands of dollars.

Loretta Irby, 63, of Cleveland Heights has been charged with scamming $33,963 in Supplemental Security Income benefits.

It was discovered that Irby had been falsifying information regarding her marital status and living arrangements with her husband. The fraud began in July 2005 and ended around April 2015 according to court records.

Special Assistant United States Attorney Lisa J. Sanniti is prosecuting the case following an investigation by the Social Security Administration Office of the Inspector General.
