No Death Penalty for Ariel Castro, Is 1,000 Years In Jail Enough?

The man accused of kidnapping three women and holding them against their will for a decade has pleaded guilty to avoid the death sentence.

In a deal that would spare three women the trauma of relivingΒ 10 years of captivity, Ariel Castro has pleaded guilty. In exchange he'll be spared the death sentence and will spend the rest of his life in prison, according to our news partners atΒ WEWS News Channel 5.Β 

Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus and Michelle KnightΒ were kidnapped and held for 10 years in Castro's Seymore Avenue, Cleveland home, according to The Plain Dealer. They escaped May 6Β with the help of a neighbor.Β 

He agreed to a deal that would give him a sentence ofΒ life without parole plus 1,000 yearsΒ in jail.Β
