Cleveland Heights funds redesign of ‘Where's My Guardrail?' intersection (cleveland19.com) — Cleveland Heights is putting $500,000 into redesigning the dangerous Fairmount and South Taylor intersection where cars have repeatedly crashed into resident John Gall’s home. Planning will wrap up in early 2026, with construction expected to be finished by year’s end, and city leaders say significant safety improvements are on the way.
   

2. Cleveland Heights council holds off on Severance rezoning until new year (cleveland.com) — Cleveland Heights City Council has delayed its final vote on rezoning Severance Town Center until early next year, extending uncertainty over the site’s future. Residents, council members, and planning officials remain split between pushing ahead and seeking more review, including independent analysis and stronger protections for Millikin Woods and surrounding neighborhoods.
   

3. Outgoing Cleveland Heights Councilwoman Davida Russell plans to run again (cleveland.com) — Longtime Cleveland Heights Councilwoman Davida Russell used her final council meeting to announce a 2027 run for Ohio House District 18, promising to keep advocating for the city. She highlighted past work on ARPA funding, housing, labor rights, youth programs, and Noble and Taylor neighborhood investments, while urging residents to see her departure as a new chapter of service.
   

4. Heights Libraries names Koritansky its new director (heightsobserver.org) — Heights Libraries has chosen veteran librarian Gale Koritansky as its new director, succeeding longtime leader Nancy Levin in February. Koritansky brings major project and outreach experience from Stow-Munroe Falls and Arlington County systems, and Heights Libraries’ communications manager—who lives in Cleveland Heights—highlights her commitment to maintaining strong, inclusive services for the community.
   

5. Full Throttle Speed Skating competes in Ohio (therepublic.com) — A recent Ohio Invitational Short Track speed skating meet brought regional skaters to Cleveland Heights, where Full Throttle Speed Skating faced competitors from several states. Local fans can note strong finishes across multiple distances and relays, as the team now pauses for the holidays before resuming competition in February.
