Potter Village is the neighborhood of the seven connected streets ofΒ Castleton, Woodridge, St. Albans, Boynton, Radcliffe, Haselton and Edison,Β in Cleveland Heights. Β It is named after a family named Potter, who had aΒ large dairy farm that covered most of the present neighborhood in theΒ early 1920s.
In 1923, the land of the former Potter farm was redeveloped into aΒ residential neighborhood. This year, residents celebrate the 90thΒ anniversary of their neighborhood as a neighborhood.
Activities at the Potter Village Block Party included rock 'n roll by TheΒ David Loy Band, a huge pot luck, a visit by a Cleveland Heights fire truckΒ and firefighters, a water balloon toss, card games. arts & crafts, anΒ old-fashioned cake walk, and a raffle with prizes donated by more than aΒ dozen local merchants.
More thanΒ 150 residents attended this year. According to the leaders of theΒ Potter Village Good Neighbor Association, an organization of residents, itΒ is the largest citizen-run block party in Cleveland Heights.Β
