Popular Local Big Band Returns to the Cleveland BopStop to Perform the Music of Two Legends
Cuyahoga Falls is known for many things, one of which is its very rich history of successful musicians being from here! One of Northeast Ohio's popular jazz Big Bands hails from the Cuyahoga Falls area. The Dave Banks Big Band has been performing in and around Ohio for twenty years. Dave, a 1974 CFHS alumni, returned to the area after a twenty year career in Las Vegas, Nevada where he performed in lavish production shows and backed many major entertainers. In 2001, he formed his professional big band here in Ohio. They will be appearing at America's #1 Jazz Club voted by All About Jazz in 2019, the Cleveland BopStop, 2920 Detroit Ave in Cleveland on March 31st at 8pm! The show will be a tribute to the music of Buddy Rich and Sammy Davis Jr.! This pairing of Sammy and Buddy made a legendary live recording at the Sands Hotel in Las Vegas in 1966, and many of the songs from that recording will be presented on this concert! The show will feature Akron area drum legend Mark Gonder and the dynamic vocals of Cleveland's Stanley Davis. Some of the songs you will hear are Sammy's "Come Back To Me," "What Kind of Fool am I?," and Buddy's "The Rotten Kid," "Time Check", "West Side Story Medley" and many more!
