• Fairfield approves 2026 budget that adds directed police patrol, communications director (journal-news.com) — Fairfield has approved its 2026 budget, funding a new directed police patrol unit and restoring a communications director to improve public safety and resident outreach. The plan also adds staff in human resources and IT, raising the city manager’s budget by just over 11%. Police hope to secure a federal COPS grant to offset much of the new unit’s cost.
