Building Permits: New Rec Center, Acorn Alley Improvements and More

Rec center renovation

Residents of Whitehall Terrace can look forward to a new recreation center at the apartment complex off Summit Street.

Owners of the complex, Whitehall Terrace Investors, applied for and received a building permit to renovate a building on the property at 1975 Courtland Drive for a new recreation center. The permit, approved by the Kent Community Development Department, gives the OK for construction on the $26,000 project.

Improvements at Acorn Alley II

Another tenant space at Acorn Alley II is ready for finishing work.

The city approved the tenant space buildout at 135 E. Erie St., suite 301, for an unnamed tenant space.

Also at Acorn Alley II, owner RLB Phoenix Properties received approval for construction of third-floor common space areas in Building C.

CVS signs approved

A comprehensive sign package for the , which will be built after is demolished, has been approved by city planners. The new signs this fall from the Kent Planning Commission, which had to approve the signs based on the city's new sign code.

Neighborhood projects

Two residential building permits were issued by the city for smaller projects, including:

  • Jay Plymale, 433, 435, 437 Fairchild Ave., new two-car detached garage, $3,000
  • Suzanne Holt, 5782 Glad Blvd., install 6 foot wooden fence in rear yard, no job cost listed
