• 3 indicted in rape of underage teenage girls in Kent (beaconjournal.com) — Authorities have indicted three Kent residents on serious felony sex charges involving underage girls, with the alleged assaults reported in late April 2025 at a Silver Meadows Boulevard apartment. All three men are also accused of providing alcohol to minors and are currently held in Portage County Jail while court proceedings move forward. 
• Portage woman dies after SUV goes into water in Rocky River (record-courier.com) — A 50-year-old Kent woman, Katrina R. Smith, has been identified as the victim after an SUV was found partially submerged in the Rocky River, where police discovered her body on Jan. 4. Rocky River police and regional crash investigators are still working to determine how the vehicle ended up in the water and what caused her death. Authorities say the medical examiner has not yet ruled on cause or manner of death.
• Ravenna voters to face income tax to fund new city buildings (record-courier.com) — Ravenna leaders are asking voters in May to approve a 0.25% income tax increase to fund a new safety center and city hall, following similar projects in Kent and Streetsboro. Kent residents may be interested because Kent’s municipal building opened in 2025 and its police station in 2017 without new city-hall taxes, offering a nearby comparison as Ravenna debates its own plans.

- I was at ACME in Stow ands noticed Main Moon was closed.
Search said "temporarily closed", but looking in the windows, the whole shop has been cleared out to the floor on both sides. Does anybody know more… (Nextdoor Standing Rock) - Saw looks like a deceased husky dog on Kent Road in front of the KSU airport grass area today about 12:30.
Anyone who knows anyone missing there dog please check. Hope the owners are found. (Nextdoor South Kent)
