Police Blotter: Kent Man Arrested for Stealing 30 foot Steel Trusses

The following arrest information was provided by the Kent Police Department. It does not indicate conviction.

A Kent man is facing charges of stealing multiple 30 foot steel trusses from a Kent business.

Joel E. Jacobson, 40, of 525 Park Ave. was arrested in a parking lot near 800 Mogadore Road, where police found four long, steel trusses tied down to the top of a compact pick-up truck.

The trusses belonged to industrial equipment manufacturer , and police believe the weighty material was being stolen for its scrap value — an estimated $400.

Jacobson was charged Nov. 19 with one count of theft, a first-degree misdemeanor. He has since pleaded not guilty to the theft charge in Portage County Common Pleas Court. He was released on bond and is awaiting a Dec. 29 pretrial hearing on the charge.
