The life-long Kent resident is a full-time graduate student in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at , and she's certified through the Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Asociation as a horse specialist. In laymen's terms, Culley's a bit of a horse whisperer who works to improve people struggling with mental health issues by helping them develop relationships with horses.

Culley's work is fascinating. I got the chance to visit with her and write about her equine therapy program a few years ago when I was a staff writer for the Record-Courier. Of course, I'm biased because I grew up with horses and love the big, graceful animals. But seeing the results of her work was awe-inspiring.
