2nd Ride Opens on Madison Avenue

The new resale shop at 13703 Madison Avenue has it all: Signs, helmets, clothing, leathers, seats, purses and boots.

There are lots of second-hand and resale shops in Lakewood.

2nd Ride is hardly typical.

For starters, there really aren’t any shops specializing in motorcycle gear in a second-hand concept.

β€œThis is a big area for second-hand stores,” said Sherry Bush, 2nd RideΒ owner.

β€œMy kids are in Lakewood, I am from Lakewood and I’ve always liked Lakewood.”

Bush, an accountant by day in her full-time gig, opened the store last month.Β

β€œThere’s really not another store like this,” she said.Β

There are some tag items for sale, but most of the items are β€œgently used.”

Motorcycle boots that sell new for $100 start at $25 at 2nd Ride.

It’s not just Harley Davidson gear either.

β€œIt’s a nice mix,” said Bush, who's enjoyed riding motorcycles with her husband for the past 15 years. β€œI am selective about what I buy, because I want to be selective about what I sell.”

Even though the store only recently opened, there’s been a steady flow of customers.Β

β€œIt’s been going well,” she said. β€œI think it’s going to take off.”

The store is open noon to 8 p.m. from Monday through Friday; and noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday, and β€œclosed to ride” on Sunday.
