Accused Shoplifter Cuts Employee During Fight: Lakewood Police
A person accused of shoplifting at a Lakewood store used a large knife to cut an employee's face this week, police said.

LAKEWOOD, OH β A 42-year-old man is accused of using a knife to cut a convenience store employee's face during a fight in Lakewood, police announced.
Chaun Cloyd, 42, faces a charge of aggravated robbery, a first-degree felony, police announced Friday. His bond has been set at $10,000. The date of his arraignment in Lakewood Municipal Court has not yet been set.
At 6:25 p.m., an employee at the store confronted a possible shoplifter, Cloyd, and tried to escort him out of the building, police said, and a fight erupted.

As the fight started, Cloyd pulled out a large, "machete-style" knife and started swinging it at the employee, a witness told police. Cloyd cut the employee's face, giving him a 3 to 4 inch gash, police added.
Cloyd then ran from the store, police added.

The injured employee was taken to Fairview Hospital for medical attention. Police said the employee's wound was not life threatening.
A knife was recovered at the store by officers, a Lakewood Police Department spokesperson said.
Cloyd was later found at the Lakewood Emergency Department, where he was using the bathroom to wash blood off of himself, police said. Officers took him into custody at the medical facility.
