Here are the top three stories in Lakewood today:
- A man's body was found in Lake Erie by a resident living on Erie Cliff Drive in Lakewood who was reporting a break-in of their storage shed, according to Lakewood police Capt. Gary Stone. The victim was in his 20s and has not been identified. The police are currently investigating to determine if the two incidents are related. (WJW FOX 8 News Cleveland)
- An explosion occurred at the I Schumann & Co. metal plant in nearby Oakwood Village, leading to a fire, 13 reported injuries, and the smell of "burning oil" in surrounding areas, including Seven Hills and Broadview Heights. Several of the injured workers have suffered burn injuries, and one is in critical condition, while the others are currently receiving medical treatment at different hospitals. This was not the first time an explosion occurred at the plant. (WKYC)
- Cleveland police are searching for two vehicles, a gray Hyundai Elantra and a blue Kia Sportage, following reports of a possible abduction of a teenage girl who was heard screaming and blowing a whistle near the intersection of Anson Avenue and Dolloff Road. She was seen "hanging out" with the occupants of the cars earlier; however, at this time, it is not confirmed that there was an abduction. The suspect vehicles were reported as stolen, and police urge anyone with information on the incident to call 911. (WDTN)
