Burger King Eyes Major Facelift

The floor plan will largely remain the same at the Burger King on Madison Avenue and W. 117^th Street.

But that’s about it. 

Officials from the burger chain are planning a major renovation at the property at 11900 Madison Avenue — inside and out.

The owner of the restaurant, Cleveland-based Franchise Operations, recently submitted plans to Lakewood City Hall.

The city’s architectural board of review will hear the company's proposal at its Jan. 10 meeting. 

Plans include changes to the entrances, interior walls and drive-thru windows. According to the proposal, the shingled roof would be replaced a metal, seamed roof.

New paint, signs and graphics are also planned.

On the inside of the building, the proposal calls for an update to the furnishings and décor; remodel to the front counter and service counter; new items in the kitchen; and new restrooms.

There are also plans to relocate and build a new trash bin; repair drive-thru lanes; and add bicycle parking.

Other than receiving the application, city officials have not heard from Burger King representatives.

Dru Siley, the city’s planning and development director, said that he has “not had much time to spend with the drawings,” but added that in a cursory examination of the renderings, “it seems they still have a fair bit of work to do.”

“We look forward to working with Burger King through the Architectural Board of Review process to develop a high quality remodel of the Madison Avenue store,” he added.
