Car Break-Ins Reported on Lakewood’s West End

The following arrest information was supplied by the Lakewood Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Theft

There were several reports of car break-ins within a few block radius on Dec. 6. Two unlocked cars in the 1200 block of Arlington Avenue were reported broken into sometime during the night on Dec. 6. A small amount of money was reported stolen. Another car break-in was reported a few blocks away on Arlington Avenue — as well as another in the 1300 block of Riverside Drive — but nothing was reported stolen. Another resident, in the 17800 block of Lake Avenue made a similar report.

Buying breakfast with fake $100 bill

Two men tried to buy food from the Burger King drive-thru window on Detroit Avenue with a counterfeit $100 bill at around 7:30 a.m. Dec. 4. Police were unable to catch up with the vehicle.

A man told police that he watched as another man “dove under a car” when a police car was in the area of Hilliard Road and McKinley Avenue at around 2:15 a.m. Dec. 3.

Car versus pedestrian

A woman told police that a vehicle at the intersection of Warren Road and Detroit Avenue struck her at around 9:30 a.m. Dec. 3. She was taken to Lakewood Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Knife at school

Police responded to Garfield Middle School for a report of a student bringing a knife to school at around 9:30 a.m. Dec. 3.

Grand theft

A vehicle was reported stolen from the Edwards Apartments in the 11900 block of Detroit Avenue at around 12:15 p.m. Dec. 3.

Basketball turnover

A boy was playing basketball in the 2100 block of Quail Avenue at around 5 p.m. Dec. 5, when the ball went over the fence into a neighbor’s yard. The neighbor refused to return it… until police officers arrived.
