- On Nov. 3, eight employees of the Warrensville Developmental Center on 4325 S. Green Road in Highland Hills — about 21 miles from Lakewood — were indicted in the Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas. The employees were charged with 17 counts of patient abuse, tampering with evidence, and falsification. (Cleveland.com)
- Rachel Spence is directing "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever" at Beck Center for the Arts, which runs Dec. 9 through Dec. 18 in Lakewood's Studio Theater. Spence, who is celebrating her 20th anniversary directing at the Beck Center, said the comedy is fun and has a "very nice message." (Cleveland.com)
- The football team at St. Edward High School in Lakewood won the Ohio High School Athletic Association Division I state championship game on Friday, Dec. 2. St. Edward beat Springfield 28 to 14, winning their third state title in five years. St. Edward head coach Tom Lombardo said, "We played the toughest schedule in Ohio for sure, if not one of the toughest in the country. Week in and week out (we faced top tier teams) to prepare us for a game like this." (Max Preps)
