Five Guys Closes on Detroit Avenue

Five Guys Burgers and Fries, the national burger chain that opened its doors in Lakewood a few years back, has closed its doors on Detroit Avenue. 

The news came by surprise — as the restaurant quietly closed up — even though the Lakewood location was clearly not as bustling as some of its other locations. 

One Lakewood resident said he tried to take his family there for dinner on Saturday night. 

Instead, he found the windows had been covered with garbage bags and a sign posted on the door informing patrons that the business had shuttered.

According to the typed message, the store closed Saturday.

“We are grateful to everyone who has supported us and we look forward to serving you at our Five Guys Westgate location” in Fairview Park, according to the letter.

It's not clear whether the company will keep its regional corporate offices in the adjacent space.
