I-90 Work, Other Construction Could Impact Your Weekend Plans

LAKEWOOD, OH — With fall looming, there are plenty of road work projects rushing to finish before colder weather arrives.

The headline grabber this weekend will be the implementation of new traffic patterns along the I-480 bridges, according to the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT). However, there are plenty of other projects going on around Cuyahoga County that could impact your weekend plans.

Here are all the projects on Cuyahoga County's west side that could impact your driving, according to ODOT.

• U.S. Route 42 — Between Ridge Road and Brookpark Road, traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction, starting on Friday and continuing through November.
• Scranton Road bridge work — The Scranton Road bridge over I-90 will only be open to northbound traffic starting Friday. Southbound traffic will be detoured to Barber Avenue, to W. 25th and then to Clark Ave.
• I-90 under Scranton Road — Lane restrictions will be implemented while the above bridge work is completed.
• I-480 west at W. 130th — I-480 west to W. 130th will be closed starting Friday at 9 p.m. and continuing through noon on Saturday. Various lane restrictions will also be implemented along the highway.
• U.S. Route 6 (Detroit-Superior) Bridge — Merwin Avenue, between Center Street and West Street bridge, will be closed for overhead bridge repairs.
• I-71 north to I-480 west — The ramp will be closed on Saturday between 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.
• I-480 west to SR 237 south — The ramp will have a right lane closure between 6 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday.

As the I-480 bridge replacements project moves into a new phase, here are the upcoming impacts:

• I-480 west to I-77 north and south ramps will be closed Friday at 7 p.m. through Saturday at 6 p.m.
  • Detour is I-480 west to State Rd. to I-480 east to I-77.
• I-480 between I-77 and Transportation Blvd. will have various lane restrictions on Friday, starting at 7 p.m. through Saturday at 6 p.m.
• The Transportation Blvd. entrance ramp to I-480 west will be closed on Friday starting at 7 p.m. and continuing Saturday, at 6 p.m.
