Knife-Wielding Woman Shot By Rocky River Police: Reports

The woman was threatening to hurt herself and others and charged at officers with a knife, police said.

ROCKY RIVER, OH — Rocky River police shot a knife-wielding woman on Monday morning, according to reports.

At 1:45 a.m., officers were sent to an apartment complex on Linden Road. A woman at the complex was reportedly threatening to hurt herself and others, News 5 reported. The woman may have also had a handgun.

When police arrived at the complex, they found the woman in a hallway with a knife in her hand, News 5 said. She ignored police commands to drop her weapon and instead charged at officers, prompting the shooting.

The woman was rushed to a MetroHealth Medical Center and was in surgery on Monday morning, according to Cleveland 19.

Three police were placed on administrative leave, per department policy, following the shooting.
