Here are the top three stories today in Lakewood:
- Lakewood has begun the process of updating its 100-year-old sewer system, currently a $300 million project. Recently, Lakewood presented its comprehensive Integrated Wet Weather Improvement Plan (IWWIP) to meet the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) standards. Mayor Meghan George said, "Essentially, the federal government agrees and has mirrored what’s laid out in our IWWIP. That’s good news.” Phase One recently started, it prevents the treatment facility overflow from going untreated into Lake Erie. View the link to read more about the project. (Cleveland.com)
- The Lakewood Public Library has new pop-up interactive exhibits named "Dear Ukraine," to create awareness of the unique history and cultural achievements of Ukraine. Visitors can experience the exhibits now through Mar. 30. (Cleveland.com)
- This year's Lakewood Women's Club's "Women Honoring Women" celebration was on Sep. 22. Lakewood women artists donated art and experiences to the silent auction. All the money raised from the auction and raffle goes towards the Lakewood Women's Club 2023 scholarship program. The annual scholarship helps a female graduating high school student to pursue additional education. (Lakewood Observer)
