Lakewood-Based The Side Quest Will Close

A combination of low customer turnout due to COVID-19 and high-cost of business led to the closure, the owners said on Facebook.

The Side Quest will close by the end of January, the bar's owners announced on social media.

LAKEWOOD, OH β€” The Side Quest will permanently close in January.

The Detroit Avenue bar opened seven years ago. The owners announced their decision on social media on New Year's Day.

"At the end of the day, we enter winter with the lowest customer turnout due to the new influx of COVID-19, combined with the highest cost of running that we’ve ever dealt with," they said in a social media post. "After much intense consideration, this has led us to the difficult decision to close The Side Quest."

The bar will be open throughout most of January, though its hours may vary. The owners hope to cover the expenses they accrued over the past several months. The Side Quest will clear its beverage and food inventory, its game inventory, its supplies from events and other items from its storage.

"We will also try our best to stay open long enough that our staff has time to find new opportunities. We are so grateful for all the work, love, and creativity our staff have brought to the Side Quest over years," the owners said.
