The Lakewood City Schools has adopted the recently revised guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and the Ohio Department of Health regarding quarantine and isolation for COVID-19 cases and exposures. Please find a summary of the new District protocols below:

Positive for COVID-19 (regardless of where contracted):

Days 1-5*:Â Must remain home

Day 6: If no symptoms or symptoms are improving and there is no fever, person may return with mask; OR
Day 6: If symptoms are not improving, the person must call in each day and will be medically excused.
*Day 1 begins on the day after symptoms began or the day after the test was performed.
Exposed to someone who has tested positive:
-
Whether exposed in school or elsewhere, if no symptoms the person may return with a mask.

If the person has symptoms, they should remain at home untilÂ
1. Negative test results are received; OR
2. They provide to the school a note from a health care provider indicating that the student can return to school; OR
3. Symptoms are improving and there is no fever

If the test is positive, follow the protocol listed above for Positive for COVID-19.Â

Athletics/Recreation Exposures:
-
As soon as notified, person must test.
If asymptomatic, person may continue to play with a mask.
If test is positive or person has symptoms, they must stay home for five days. On the sixth day, if symptoms are improving and there is no fever, the person may return to play wearing a mask at all times, including during competition.

These new protocols will go into effect immediately.
