  1. Northeast Ohio will experience an "unseasonably cold and snowy" winter, according to the 2022-2023 Farmers’ Almanac. Luckily, Lakewood residents can now receive up to five gallons of rock salt for free under Lakewood's new snow and ice control plan. The plan also includes updated snow removal priority routes and maps, updated city signage regarding snow streets, additions to communication protocols, and more. (Cleveland.com)
  2. Due to the continued growth of the "Pickleball craze," Lakewood is adding four new courts at Lakewood Park. The estimated $150,000 plan would convert the north tennis court into pickleball courts. Lakewood recently applied for $50,000 in Cuyahoga County Community Development Supplemental Grant funding to help fund the project. (Cleveland.com)
  3. The Ohio State School Board of Education passed a resolution rebuking the Biden administration’s plan to incorporate LGBTQ+ protections into Title IX. Ohio Rep. Michael Skindell, D-Lakewood, sponsor of the currently pending Ohio Fairness Act, issued a statement calling the actions of the board "egregious and harmful." Skindell added that he supports "the important proposed federal rule changes to expand Title IX to protect transgender students from discrimination." (The Center Square)
