- From the medical marijuana program to the death penalty, the new set of state lawmakers recently sworn in have big plans for 2023. Sen. Nickie Antonio, D-Lakewood, said, "I am determined, and my caucus is 100 percent behind this, to finally end the death penalty in Ohio." Other lawmakers' plans for 2023 include re-configuring Ohio's Department of Education, abortion laws, the Ohio Fairness Act, and more. (The Columbus Dispatch)
- Last month, Lakewood Police rescued 41 beagle dogs from Ernest Lazor's home on Waterbury Road. The City of Lakewood condemned the home, which was reported to be full of feces and unlivable. The 71-year-old Lakewood man must pay $27,078 to the animal shelter by Jan. 6 if he wants his dogs back. Lazor is due back in court on Jan. 24. (Cleveland 19 News)
- Dave Chudowsky of 3News said Georgetown Vosh in Lakewood was one of his favorite things and has "the best happy hour in Cleveland." The restaurant, located at 18515 Detroit Avenue, has outside igloos, karaoke, a private wedding venue, and more. Owner Mickey Krivosh has been serving the community for more than 60 years. (WKYC)
