Here are the top three stories in Lakewood today:
- A Lakewood woman has been indicted after being accused of stabbing her parents on Dec. 6, 2022. Emily Deese, 34, is at the Lorain County Jail held on a $240,000 bond for attempted murder, felonious assault, domestic violence and tampering with evidence. Deese's parents survived the stabbing. (Cleveland 19 News)
- The Associated Press has released its Top-10 teams in the boys high school basketball polls on Monday. Among four boys teams in the greater Cincinnati area, Lakewood St. Edward came in at No. 1 for Division I. The team has a 9-0 record and a total of 119 points this season. - Lakewood High School's diving coach was a diver at the school in the 60s. Now, Dennis Dyke coaches his own grandson, J.P., a freshman at Lakewood. Admitting his grandfather asked him to join the team so he can teach him, J.P. thought it would be easier to learn from his grandfather who has been coaching at the school since 1995. Dyke said of his grandson, "He reminds me of me." (News 5 Cleveland)
