LAKEWOOD, OH β€” The LakewoodAlive summer concert series continues this Friday July 22 with a performance by the Chris Vance Quartet on the steps of the Lakewood Public Library.

β€œIt’s a fun way to hang out outside,” said Ian Andrews, executive director of LakewoodAlive. The event series takes place every Friday night in downtown Lakewood from 7 to 9 p.m. through Sept. 9.

Andrews told Patch that many of the downtown Lakewood restaurants have opened up outdoor seating specifically because of the Friday night concerts.

β€œWe run the gamut: jazz and blues and rock,” Andrew said, describing the variety of upcoming acts.

The series is made possible through funding from a number of sponsors, including a Cuyahoga Arts and Culture tax for cigarettes, which granted $5,000 to the series this summer.

Andrews spoke kindly of the Lakewood Public Library, which is also a sponsor of the series, pointing out the nice β€œjuxtaposition” of a party happening outside of the library, a quiet place during the day.
