- Leslie Kouba, a writer for cleveland.com, visited the Centering Space located on the campus of Lakewood Catholic Academy next to Lakewood Park. Sister Carol Kandiko, one of the five founders of Centering Space and a member of the Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine, and Betsy Nero are co-directors for the Centering Space. The space is used for prayer, meditation, Tai Chi, learning, conversation, counseling, tea and cookies, upstairs bedrooms for rent, and more. And hosts religious and non-religious groups, individuals, professionals, and neighbors. (Subscription: Cleveland.com)
- St. Edward High School in Lakewood has won its fifth consecutive Division I state dual wrestling title on Saturday, Feb. 11! St. Edward sophomore Bradley Eaton said, "A lot of schools have two or three good guys, but I think it just goes to show how strong our team is when we can show up to things like this and dominate at every single weight class. - The city of Cleveland commissioned Pam Spremulli, a native of Lakewood, to create murals in recognition of Cleveland Public Auditorium's 100th anniversary. Spremulli is one of only three artists to be given the privilege to paint murals for the auditorium, which was among the largest meeting venues in the United States when it was built in the 1920s. Spremulli’s two murals focus on the Al Sirat Grotto Shrine Circus that performed in Cleveland Public Auditorium. Her murals, which are called a "Kaleidoscope History," are over the two main ramps leading up to the balcony level. (Jamestown Post Journal)
