- Many military voters and veterans are concerned about the Ohio House Bill 458, signed into law on Jan. 6, that changes election laws. Along with changing voter ID laws, it cuts the absentee ballots' delivery time by 60 percent. The absentee ballot submission deadline is now four days instead of ten days. Former member of both the U.S. Army and U.S. Navy Mark Szabo said four days is not long enough, as it took his ballot "about eight days before it was received by the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections." - More than 300 Northeast Ohio bars and restaurants received their Type C Sports Gaming Host License from the Ohio Lottery for the first week of sports betting. But some, including Corky's in Lakewood, are still waiting for the kiosks. Johnny DiMassa, owner of The Flying Rib, said that his business is losing money with each day that passes without the equipment. (News 5 Cleveland)
- Meet John Kropf, author of "Color Capital of the World: Growing Up with the Legacy of a Crayon Company," on Wednesday, Jan. 11 at Lakewood Public Library! Kropf's book tells the story of the crayon and its economic cycle. The event will begin at 7:00 p.m. in the Main Library Auditorium. (Lakewood Public Library)
