Madison is on the Move and Fridrich Moving and Storage can Still Help you with your Move

LAKEWOOD, OH — You can't miss the enthusiasm Mike Fridrich has for Lakewood. Fridrich lives in Lakewood and his Family business — Fridrich Moving and Storage has strong ties to Cleveland and Lakewood going back over one hundred years.

Fridrich told Patch that the family moving and storage business got its start in 1915 after being in the flour, coal and feed delivery business since 1898 with a horse and buggy. That same year, the business established the facility at 14221 Madison Ave. that many Lakewood citizens are familiar with.

"North American Van Lines actually started at our Lakewood location in Oct. of 1933. We are their oldest agent - 82 years with North American," Fridrich told Patch.

A fan of all things Lakewood, especially the police and fire safety forces, Fridrich says he loves the development he's been seeing and the positive changes happening in Lakewood recently, particularly on Madison Avenue.

While there hasn't been much activity at the Lakewood location on Madison Ave., the unique building is not abandoned and has been used for storage. For the last five years, the building has been for sale with Fridrich Moving and Storage operating primarily from the Brookpark location.

The unique features of the Lakewood building actually compliment the business the new owners plan to open — a distillery. Fridrich had nothing but praise for new owners, Ann and Kevin Thomas, who plan to open the Western Reserve Distillery in the space where hand-crafted spirits will be produced and possibly, a restaurant.

Fridrich says he looks forward to seeing the distillery open in his former building and thinks it will be a great addition to the Madison Ave. corridor. However, he wants to make it clear that Fridrich Moving and Storage is proud of their Lakewood heritage and is open for business at their Brookpark location at 14800 Brookpark Rd. in Cleveland.
