Chef Eric Williams of El Carnicero Shares His Classic Guacamole Recipe

Chef Eric Williams of El Carnicero in Lakewood shares his famous guacamole recipe and talks about the Taste of Lakewood.

LAKEWOOD, OH β€” Chef Eric Williams of El Carnicero loves the annual Taste of Lakewood food festival at Madison Park.

"Every summer we look forward to celebrating with the community," Williams told Patch.

On June 11, 35 amazing Lakewood restaurants + chefs will take over Madison Park and El Carnicero will be there serving their famous adobo braised wild boar nachos.

The Taste of Lakewood takes place this weekend from 1-7 p.m. at Madison Park and is presented by the Lakewood Chamber of Commerce and Cleveland Magazine.

Now you can enjoy the taste of El Carnicero's delicious guacamole at home β€” Chef Williams shares his recipe below:

Ingredients

  • 4 ripe Hass avocados
  • 1 tsp. kosher salt
  • 1 Tbsp. finely minced garlic
  • Juice from 1 lime (about 3 Tbsp.)
  • 1 jalapeΓ±o pepper, seeded and finely minced (leave in some of the seeds for more heat)
  • 1 bunch cilantro, de-stemmed and chopped (about 1 cup)
  • Β½ medium Spanish or red onion, finely minced (about Β½ cup)

Directions

Remove avocado flesh from skin and pit. In a large stainless steel or glass mixing bowl, mash avocado, salt, garlic, and lime juice until you reach the desired consistency. Fold in jalapeΓ±o, cilantro, and onion. Taste and season with more salt or lime juice as desired. Serve with tortilla chips or cruditΓ©s.
