Man Grabs Child At Madison Park, Tries To Run Away: Police
Several adults at the park intervened, stopping the man after he had picked up a child and started running.
LAKEWOOD, OH — A man grabbed a child at Madison Park and attempted to run off with him on Wednesday night, Lakewood police announced.
At approximately 6 p.m., 911 callers reported seeing a possibly intoxicated man stumbling through the park.
Before officers arrived, the man approached several people at the park, including a group of kids at soccer practice, police said. At one point, the man grabbed a child, picked him off the ground, and tried to run away with him, police added.

Several nearby adults stopped the man before he got away and helped the child back to his practice, police said. The adults then restrained the man until police arrived.

When officers got to the park, they quickly took the man into custody. He was then taken to the hospital for a medical evaluation. He remains in police custody, according to a Lakewood police spokesperson.
No kids were hurt during the incidents, police said.
The suspect's identity has not yet been released because no formal charges have yet been filed.
