Here are the top three stories today in Lakewood:

  1. On Mar. 2, Franklin Kutz, a 37-year-old Westlake man, plead guilty to aggravated vehicular homicide. Kutz caused a fatal crash while drinking and driving in Lakewood on Apr. 23, 2022. Josephine Sever, 55, was killed when Kutz's vehicle crashed into her vehicle on Clifton Boulevard. Kutz will be sentenced on Apr. 6 by Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas Judge Kelly Ann Gallagher.   2. Over 140 junior and senior physics students competed in Lakewood High School’s (LHS) Cardboard Boat Regatta on Mar. 2. Students made boats out of untreated corrugated cardboard and clear packing tape that had to hold two people as they paddled across LHS' 25-yard pool. Those that successfully crossed the pool in the first round, only 36 percent of the boats, were able to compete in the second round on Mar. 3. See the video of rounds one and two at the link.   3. On Mar. 3, a new vintage and antique store, named Magically Found, opened in Lakewood at 13349 Madison Ave. The owner Rebecca DeNoewer plans for the store to sell a variety of goods including "vintages wares, cottage decor, upcycled goods," books, "wick," and "plant magick."
