  1. At the City Council meeting on Oct. 17, Lakewood Mayor Meghan George administered the oath of office to the new law director for the City of Lakewood, Ernie Vargo. Vargo has 37 years of legal experience and has lived in Lakewood for 19 years with his wife Trisha, three teenage children, and two cats. (City of Lakewood)
  2. Over the weekend, the Federal Election Commission filed campaign finance reports. In the 7th congressional district, which includes western and southern Cuyahoga County, Republican and former President Donald Trump White House aide Max Miller reported raising $539,925. The Democrat seeking the seat, Matthew Diemer, raised $82,227. In the 11th congressional district, which includes the rest of Cuyahoga County, incumbent Democratic Rep. Shontel Brown raised $192,069. Eric Brewer, the Republican seeking the seat, did not file a report at the Federal Election Commission. (Subscription: Cleveland.com)
