Here are the top three stories in Lakewood today:

  1. A local man and his 11-year-old son who passed away from carbon monoxide poisoning are being honored through a new memorial foundation. The Chris and Owen Kedas Memorial Foundation will aim to raise funds for sports scholarships for students in the nearby Huron School District — a fitting cause, given that Chris grew up playing baseball in Lakewood, and Owen played on his local travel baseball team. The foundation will also work to provide resources and programs to families grieving the loss of their children. (Sandusky Register)
  2. A total of 16 Lakewood High School students have received regional honors for their submissions in the Ohio Governor's Youth Art Exhibition. The 26 pieces have been sent to state judging as of Mar. 11. Those who wish to view the submissions can do so here. Best of luck to our students! (Lakewood City Schools via Facebook)
  3. The Lakewood Police Department has charged a suspect with OVI (operating a vehicle impaired) after a hit-skip on Feb. 25. LPD responded to a call about a man in a pickup truck hitting a vehicle in a parking lot, exiting the truck while holding an open container, and leaving eastbound on Edgewater Drive. Officers were able to stop the truck at Edgewater and West 115th Street. (cleveland.com)
