Photos/Videos: Every Dog Has Its Day in the Lakewood Pool

Hundreds of dogs and humans showed up at Lakewood's Foster Pool for the 12th annual Lakewood Dog Swim.

LAKEWOOD, OH — What a dog party! Every year before Foster Pool at Lakewood Park is emptied for the year, the dogs get their day. Just one day. Dogs of all shapes and sizes, diving dogs, fetching dogs, GoPro dogs and social dogs were all there on Tuesday night.

Friends of the Lakewood Dog Park hosts the Lakewood Dog Swim at Foster Pool as a collaborative effort with the City of Lakewood and the Lakewood City Schools Recreation and Education Department — it is their biggest fundraiser of the year.

Karen Karp, President of Friends of Lakewood Dog Park, Inc. told Patch that more than 250 dogs and three to four times that number of humans attended the Swim this year. The event also had a remarkable number of spectators, many more than the last several years.
