  1. Ohio Senator Nickie Antonio (D-Lakewood) announced the Anti-strangulation Law, or Senate Bill 288, passed the Ohio House on Dec. 15. Senate Bill 288 would change penalties for strangulation to range from a fifth-degree felony to a second-degree felony, instead of the current misdemeanor charge. Senate Bill 288 still needs Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine's signature. (Fox 8)
  2. The City of Lakewood announced that there will be no refuse or recycling collected on Monday, Dec. 26, and Monday, Jan. 2, due to the Christmas and New Year's holidays. If your normal collection day is Monday, have your refuse and recycling ready by 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 27, and Tuesday, Jan. 3.   3. There are four days left to nominate a house for the Lakewood Observer's Christmas/Holiday Decorating Contest 2022! Community members can nominate up to five different homes a day here. The public will then vote on the nominated houses from Dec. 21 to Dec. 28. A team will decide the top ten among the homes that receive the most votes and announce the winners on Dec. 30.
