Taco Bell Eyes Major Facelift on Detroit Avenue
The initial plans still "need a lot of work," said one city official.

Larsen Architects, the firm crafting the fast-food restaurant’s new look in Lakewood, are the same folks responsible for designing the new McDonald’s on the site of the former Detroit Theatre.
While no official architectural renderings have been presented, Dru Siley, the city’s director of planning and development, said he’s familiar with the style of the newer Taco Bell restaurants.
“What they’ve submitted is a prototype, which is not a Lakewood-style building,” said Siley. “What they’ve proposed so far needs a lot of work.”
The plans will be presented at the city's architectural board of review meeting next week.
“I would imagine we will meet with them a number of times before (the plans) get approved,” Siley added.
