Valentine's Day: See Ohio's 3 Cities With The Most Single People

If you're looking for Valentine's Day plans, consider heading to one of these three Ohio cities where there's a large number of singles.

LAKEWOOD, OH β€” Valentine's Day is nearly here and many single Ohioans are dreading another holiday alone. But fear not, because if you're looking to mingle, northern Ohio is the place to be.

Three northern Ohio cities β€” Cleveland and suburban Lakewood and Euclid β€” were rated as three of the best places to meet your next partner, according to a new study. All three cities have a large percentage of residents who identify as single.

In fact, 62 percent of Euclid residents currently identify as single, the highest suburban proportion in the nation. Lakewood was No. 3 nationally, with 58 percent of residents identifying as single.

Among big cities, Cleveland ranked behind only Detroit in percentage of residents identifying as single, the study found.

Using U.S. Census Bureau data, Solitaire Bliss β€” which operates a website for people who like to play the one-person card game β€” compiled the list of suburbs with the most singles, including breakdowns for the most single men, most single women and most divorced people.

Overall, Ohio ranks 13th in the number of single residents and the two Greater Cleveland suburbs ranked in the top 10 for cities with the most singles.

Here are the top 10 suburbs with the most singles:

  1. Euclid, Ohio (Cleveland): 62 percent single
  2. Hoboken, New Jersey (New York City): 58.7 percent
  3. Lakewood, Ohio (Cleveland) 58 percent
  4. Paradise, Nevada (Las Vegas): 58 percent
  5. Hackensack, New Jersey (New York City): 57.6 percent
  6. Cicero, Illinois (Chicago): 57.2 percent
  7. Hawthorne, California (Los Angeles): 57 percent
  8. Long Beach, California (Los Angeles): 56.9 percent
  9. Southfield, Michigan (Detroit): 56.1 percent
  10. Waltham, Massachusetts (Boston): 55.3 percent

Several of those suburbs also got mention in rankings for the most single men and women, as well as in the percentage of people who are divorced.

The big cities with the most singles are:

  1. Detroit: 70.8 percent single
  2. Cleveland: 68.7 percent
  3. Atlanta: 67.6 percent
  4. Baltimore: 66.9 percent
  5. Boston: 65.8 percent
  6. Milwaukee, 65.4 percent
  7. New Orleans, 64.8 percent
  8. Philadelphia, 63.2 percent
  9. Memphis, Tennessee, 62.9 percent
  10. Minneapolis: 62.7 percent

The rankings are based on 2019 Census Bureau data that show the percentage of people ages 18-65 who are single in all 50 states, the 50 largest cities and 130 suburbs surrounding them.
