LAKEWOOD, OH — When Lakewood's Ward 1 representative, Tess Neff, won a contest to be the city's next municipal judge, it left her seat open.

With Neff set to depart council, her seat will soon be vacant and her colleagues will need to replace her. The candidate appointed to the seat will serve out the remainder of Neff's term, which expires Dec. 31, 2023.

Interested candidates must live in their ward and be a registered voter for at least one year prior to taking office. If appointed, the representative must continue to live and vote in that ward. Candidates will be interviewed by city council before being an appointment is made.
