ICYMI: Watch Demolition of Lakewood Hospital Parking Garage Bridge
The last element of the Lakewood Hospital parking garage was taken down today. See how the construction crew handled its removal.
LAKEWOOD, OH — The bridge that used to connect the parking garage to Lakewood Hospital was taken down today, marking the near completion of the first phase of demolition to make way for the construction of a new Lakewood Family Health Center.
Preparation for the bridge removal has been in the works since the main structure was demolished. The final steps for removal were taken today with the connection of a high-strength cable to the empty end of the bridge and preparation of the load-bearing beams for easy removal.
A couple firm yanks on the high-strength cable was all it took to bring the bridge down safely. After preparation, the whole procedure took about 40 seconds.
